About the Atlanta Braves
On April 4, 1974, while a member of the Atlanta Braves, Hank Aaron hit home run number 714 to move pass Babe Ruth on the all-time home run list. Aaron joins Warren Spahn, Eddie Mathews, Phil Niekro, and Dale Murphy as the franchise's greatest players. From 1991 to 2005 the Braves won 14 straight National League East Division titles (there was no division title awarded in the strike-shortened season of 1994).
During that period the Braves advanced to the World Serves five times, winning the title in 1995. These great teams featured players like Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, John Smoltz, Chipper Jones, and Terry Pendleton. The Braves franchise was established in 1871 in the city of Boston. After a stop in Milwaukee, the franchise relocated to Atlanta in 1966. The Braves, now led by Jason Heyward and Brian McCann, play at Turner Field and their main rivals are the New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies.
