DMB is still supporting their 2009 offering Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. The album was nominated for several Grammy Awards including Best Rock Album, Album of the Year, and Worst Album Title of the Year.
For their upcoming trek (in 2010) the band will be employing an army of opening acts. The warmer-uppers include Ben Harper and Relentless 7, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, the Felice Brothers, Gov't Mule, Zac Brown Band, Brett Dennen, Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears, Raphael Saadiq and many more.
In other DMB news, Dave Matthews said he would NOT perform at the wedding of John Edwards and Rielle Hunter if asked.
While that sounds very random, Matthews was responding to a claim found in the recently released book "The Politican."Â The book was written by Andrew Young, Edwards' former aide-de-camp.
In the book, which has caused quite a hullabalou, Young claims that Edwards told Hunter he would marry her in a rooftop wedding ceremony featuring Dave Matthews Band. That is, after his wife, Elizabeth Edwards, died of cancer.
"He didn’t ask me, but if he had, I would make a fair bet that I would have said no to such an offer.
"Or, I would have charged him some incredible amount of money," Matthews said, laughing.
In more uplifting news, DMB has put together an EP to raise money for victims of the Haiti earthquake. The EP, which sells for $5, features live DMB performances from 2004-2009. The EP can be purchased on the band's website.
