About the Chicago Cubs
The Chicago Cubs are baseball's loveable losers. The franchise, founded in 1871 and one of the charter members of the National League, hasn't won a championship in over a century. Their historic drought is marked by the Curse of the Billy Goat, the collapse of 1969, the failure in the 1984 NLCS, and the Steve Bartman incident of 2003.
he player most associated with the franchise is Mr. Cub Ernie Banks. He played with the team from 1953 to 1971 and was inducted into Baseball's Hall of Fame in 1977. The Cubs are aligned in the National League's Central Division and their main rivals are the St. Louis Cardinals, the Milwaukee Brewers, and their cross town, American League counterpart, the Chicago White Sox.
The "North Siders," as the Cubs are sometimes called, have played at Wrigley Field since 1916. The ball park is generally regarded as the cathedral of American sports. Currently, the Cubs are led by catcher Geovany Soto and slugger Derrek Lee.
