About the Houston Astros
The Houston Astros entered the Major Leagues as an expansion team in 1962. At the time they were known as the Colt 45's. They changed their name to the Astros in 1965. Mostly known for wearing colorful uniforms, the Astros play in the Central Division of the National League. After playing in the Astrodome for nearly 35 years, the 'Stros moved to Enron Field, now called Minute Maid Park, in 2000.
Teammates Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio, two of the franchise's greatest players, led the Astros to their first World Series appearance in 2005 (they were swept by the Chicago White Sox). Hall of famer Nolan Ryan pitched for the Astros from 1980 to 1988 and during that time he notched his fifth no-hitter. Currently, the Astros are led by outfielder Hunter Pence, and pitcher Roy Oswalt.
