Offensive lineman Gabe Carimi is betting on himself as he stays away from offseason training activities
Chicago Bears 2011 NFL Draft pick Gabe Carimi has drawn a lot of attention for not participating in Marc Trestman’s first offseason training program. There has been speculation that Carimi could be on the bubble and that attending the program would help him get his footing for training camp. However, Carimi has taken the opposite stance, staying away and clearing his mind of distraction as he prepare for maybe the battle for his career in Chicago. He has been working out at the O-Line Performance Academy in Arizona, a performance center by former Pro Bowl lineman LeCharles Bentley. "Any time a player opts to make an investment in himself that is outside the scope of what the team expects, that's a gamble," said Bentley, via Brad Biggs of The Chicago Tribune. WR Mark Harrison Signs On With New England
Mark Harrison originally signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted rookie back in April but failed a physical after showing up to rookie minicamp with a foot injury. He was released and is now being signed by the New England Patriots. The former Rutgers star has a nice blend of size (6-3, 200 lbs) and speed (4.46) and could develop into an NFL player but he’s facing an uphill battle in New England. But if there was ever a team that he could prove himself worthy it would be the Patriots. They are not afraid of cutting draft picks in favor of guys that show up to camp to play. Gabe Carimi working out with LeCharles Bentley, “light years” better than last season
According to the Chicago Tribune, Bears offensive lineman Gabe Carimi has been working out with former NFL lineman LeCharles Bentley and is reportedly “light years” better than he was in 2012. Bentley started running the O-Line Performance Academy after his career ended in 2006 and he worked out with Carimi before he was drafted in 2011. He says Carimi has to change the player he was last season. “Gabe can’t go back to Chicago and be the player he was.” Bentley said. “If he (does), he’s failed and I’ve failed him, to be quite honest, and we’ve failed one another.”   Need NFL Tickets?
