Muse Prepares For A Busy 2010 Touring Schedule

Muse Prepares For A Busy 2010 Touring Schedule

In 2010, the English rock band Muse will add volumes to its already impressive live-performance resume.  The rock trio, who has a reputation for putting on outstanding concerts, is scheduled to sell Muse tickets for several high profile festival appearances, a North American headlining tour, and as the opening act for U2.

This award-winning band from Devon, England has already performed in front of a sold out crowd at Madison Square Garden, at the Royal Albert Hall, Live 8, The Glastonbury Festival,  Austin City Limits Music Festival, The V Festival, and on Saturday Night Live.

In January, Muse headlined the Big Day Out festival in Australia.  In April, Muse will headline the second day of the 11th annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.  Coachella is held in Indio, California and runs from April 16th through the 18th.  Headlining the other two days are Jay-Z and Gorillaz.

According to their website, Muse will launch a spring tour of North America beginning Feb. 27 in Atlanta.  The jaunt concludes with April's Coachella appearance.   The final, non-festival American date is set for April 14 in San Francisco.

Highlights of the band's itinerary include a Muse Show in New York City; a March 6 Muse concert in Boston; and a March 12 Muse performance in Chicago.

The band recently announced that they would like to use their upcoming North American tour as a backdrop for a performance film.

"We'd like to something a little bit more along the lines of a touring documentary as opposed to just a live gig this time," said bassist Chris Wolstenholme.  "Something a little bit more like Nirvana's Live! Tonight! Sold Out!. I think that was one of the best tour documentaries I've ever watched..."

The documentary in question is Nirvana: Live! Tonight! Sold Out! a video album released in November of 1994.  Much of the footage was compiled by Kurt Cobain although the final product was finished after his death.

Muse has not announced a director or even a name associated with the film project.  The band has already released two live video albums, Hullabaloo: Live at Le Zenith (2002), Paris and Absolution Tour (2005).

After headlining their own U.S. trek, Muse will open for U2 as they continue their massive 360 World Tour.  U2 is slated for another round of U.S. dates starting June 6.

It's not every year that a band like Muse receives top-billing at several major music festivals, headlines their own North American tour, and opens for U2.  Their hectic schedule is a testament to both their immense popularity and their energetic live performances.  They are one of the few bands that are actually better in person then on a recording.

Other major stops for Muse this year includes a performance in Las Vegas, a show in Philadelphia, and a concert in Vancouver.
