Emo-punk band Fall Out Boy consists of vocalist and guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz, drummer Andrew Hurley and guitarist Joe Throhman.

The band’s name was a suggestion shouted by a fan after one of their early shows. “Fallout Boy” is the name of “Radioactive Man’s” sidekick from the animated television series The Simpsons.

Before reaching mainstream success, Fall Out Boy had a deal with a recording label co-owned by Less Than Jake drummer Vinnie Fiorello. At this time Fall Out Boy’s energetic live shows were gaining the band a loyal following.

However it would be Island Records that would provide Fall Out Boy with the financial backing needed to record a proper debut album. Take This To Your Grave was recorded at Butch Vig’s Studio complex in Madison Wisconsin and was produced by Sean O’Keefe.

The album received rave reviews and garnered the band much attention. After two years of numerous tour appearances, Fall Out Boy went back into the studio and recorded From Under The Cork Tree.

The album, released in 2005, would eventually go double platinum and produce two of their most popular singles: “Sugar We're Going Down” and “Dance, Dance.” The album’s success led Fall Out Boy to be nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist.

In 2007, the band released their next album, Infinity On High. The album debuted at number one and went platinum just one month after its release.

To promote the album, Wentz launched a viral internet campaign. The campaign featured a fictional organization known as “Citizens For Our Betterment” hacking into the website of their record label.

In 2008, FOB released a CD/DVD package Live In Phoenix and another studio album, Folie à Deux.
