About Michael Buble

Michael Bublé was born on 9 September 1975, and is a Canadian crooner jazz singer and actor. While achieving modest chart success in the United States, his 2003 self-titled album has reached the top ten in Canada, the UK and Australia.

There was a time when Michael Buble was languishing in obscurity and seriously considering giving up a career as a singer. It was 2000 and the 25-year-old Bublé was still performing at weddings.

The Canadian-born Bublé first showed his singing talent when he was 13-years-old and sung "White Christmas" to his family. By the age of 16, he was already performing in night clubs. At 18, he won the prestigious Canadian Youth Talent search. Then, for the next seven years, Bublé played every gig imaginable. It didn't matter where or when, if you needed someone to sing a song he was there. Despite all the hard work, Bublé was getting nowhere and still singing for brides and grooms.

Just when it looked like he was going to quit the singing business altogether Buble caught a big break. Granted his big break was another wedding but it wasn't just any wedding. This was the wedding of the daughter of former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney. Attending the reception, where Bublé sang "Mack the Knife," was record producer and executive David Foster. While it wasn't love at first sight, because Foster had no idea how to promote Bublé and his kind of music, the chance encounter eventually led to a recording contract.

With Foster as producer and collaborator, Bublé released his self-titled debut album in 2003. While charting no higher than 47 in the States, the album did reach number one in Australia where it was certified seven-times Platinum. His sophomore release, It's Time (2005), earned Bublé his first multi-Platinum album in America. Bublé followed up the success of It's Time with two number one albums, Call Me Irresponsible (2007) and Crazy Love (2009). The big band, jazz singer has also released several live albums including Come Fly with Me and Michael Bublé Meets Madison Square Garden.

In addition to topping the charts, Bublé has also done some acting. Notably, the Canadian crooner has appeared in the 2000 movie Duets as well as two episodes of the Fox television show The X-Files back in 1996. An avid hockey fan, Buble is part owner of a junior hockey team called the Vancouver Giants.
