About Nickelback"Here's your nickel back." Nickelback is a Canadian rock band formed in Alberta in 1995 by Chad Kroeger, Mike Kroeger and Ryan Peake. That's what bassist Mike Kroeger said to Starbucks customers when he gave them their change. Kroeger must have liked the sound of that phrase because he used it as the name of his rock band, Nickelback. Matt is joined is by his half brother, lead singer and lead guitarist, Chad Kroeger, and rhythm guitarist Ryan Peake. The band's original drummer was Brandon Kroeger, but he was replaced by Ryan Vikedal who was replaced by Daniel Adair. Nickelback is one of rock's most ridiculed artists. In fact they are downright hated. The band has been derided by critics from Rolling Stone magazine, USA Today, Blender, and Allmusic. Readers of World Magazine voted them the "worst band in the world." To earn that honor, Nickelback had to beat out Lighthouse Family, Toploader and Razorlight. Despite the overwhelming amount of criticism, Nickelback is an unmitigated success. They are the 11th best selling musical act of the 2000's, and apart from The Beatles, they are the best selling foreign act in the United State in the first decade of the 21st century. Their 2003 release, The Long Road, went on to sell five million units. They followed that up with All the Right Reason (2005). That album put 5 singles in the Top 20 and sold more than 11 million copies worldwide. In total, the band's six studio albums have sold more than 30 million units around the globe. Nickelback's discography also includes Curb (1996), The State (1998), and Dark Horse (2008). Their single "How You Remind Me" was the top song of 2002.
