The Alliant Energy Center is located in Madison, Wisconsin. The center contains several buildings including Veterans Memorial Coliseum (formerly known as the Dane County Coliseum), Exhibition Hall, Willow Island and the Arena. All three buildings host a wide range of Madison events from local gatherings to sporting events to high energy concerts. The Veterans Memorial Coliseum was given an energized renovation in 2004-2005 which greatly changed the venue's seating charts. The complex is owned and operated by Dane County, but the naming rights were purchased by Alliant Energy. Despite being owned by the county, the center is operated as a business and doesn't use public money. This alliance between government and commerce has been in place since 1990. The complex has hosted a number of energetic performers and dignitaries over the years including the Dalai Lama, Hillary Clinton, and Frank Sinatra. At one time or another, teams from the NBA, NHL, minor league hockey, and arena football have all spent their energies at the center.
